Law School Scholarship Funds for Students Interested in Real Property Law
The New York Bar Foundation is pleased to announce The Real Property Law Section Lorraine Power Tharp Scholarship.
One $1,500.00 scholarship will be awarded to a second- or third-year law student who best exemplifies the core values important to Lorraine Power Tharp–academic excellence, a demonstrated interest in public service, high integrity and, if possible, an interest in real property law. A preference will be given to a student who demonstrates financial need. The scholarship will be applied to the student’s 2010/2011 academic year tuition.
A completed application and supporting documentation as detailed in the guidelines must be submitted to The New York Bar Foundation no later than Thursday, September 30, 2010. The Real Property Law Section Lorraine Power Tharp Scholar will be announced by November 15, 2010. For more information, go here.

Loan Repayment Assistance for Prosecutors and Public Defenders
The John R. Justice Student Loan Repayment Program (JRJ) will provide 10 million dollars in loan repayment assistance to state and federal public defenders and state prosecutors who agree to remain employed as public defenders and prosecutors for at least three years.
Equal Justice Works has estableshed a JRJ webpage, which will be updated as information becomes available. Two webinars have been scheduled to help prosecutors and defenders interested in the program.

2010 Lavender Law Career Fair & Conference
The National LGBT Bar Association's Annual Lavender Law Career Fair and Conference, on August 26-28 in Miami Beach, is designed to achieve a sense of community and inclusion for LGBT candidates within the legal profession's recruiting efforts. By participating in this career fair, candidates will talk directly to LGBT-friendly recruiters from law firms, government agencies, LGBT rights groups, and legal departments.
