The New York State Bar Association Young Lawyers Section is hosting a Spring Networking Event on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. at Union Bar, 204 Park Avenue South (@ 17th Street), in Manhattan. This event will be co-sponsored by the Young Lawyers Committee of the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA). Meet new colleagues in a relaxed and enjoyable social setting. Cash bar will be available.

Touro Alum Hosts Music Law Seminar

Shamita Carriman, a 2007 Touro Law Center graduate, is hosting a seminar entitled Music Law & Business 101: A comprehensive review of key legal and business issues tailored for DJ's and Producers, and she has invited Touro Law Center students to attend and learn the basics of music law.

In this workshop, you will receive an overview of key music business distinctions you need to know in today's rapidly evolving music industry. Ms. Carriman will provide insight on how to protect and properly exploit rights, name and logo usage, royalty breakdowns, sync licensing, and how to navigate online streaming and digital distribution.

The Legal Services Corporation Loan Repayment Assistance Program

The Legal Services Corporation (LSC) has announced that it is accepting applications under its Herbert S. Garten Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LSC LRAP). This program awards forgivable $5,600 loans to attorneys with up to five years of experience with a program to help them repay law school loans. Attorneys must have at least $50,000 in law school debt in order to apply.

The 2011 LSC LRAP loan payments are contingent on LSC's receiving funding for the program. At this time, final 2011 funding is pending.

The application deadline is March 25, 2011.
